Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise (CJCE) has grown from a sports-focused group to become a real asset to our community's well-being. Based at the Townhead Community Sports Hub, we offer a wide range of activities, from sports facilities and health programs to community events. CJCE is known for its strong leadership and financial stability, even during tough times like the pandemic.
Now, we're looking to build on this success with a new community hub. This isn't just about having a new building; it's about creating a space that truly meets the needs of everyone in our community. We envision a hub with well-designed, sustainable buildings that are fit for purpose, allowing CJCE to expand its vital work and support even more people in Cumnock.
The project has been in the works for over a year - click here to see the journey so far!
Exciting news! Our plans for a new community hub are progressing. A feasibility study has been completed (2024), architectural designs are in place, and we've recently received approval for our planning application. We're aiming to secure a building warrant in early 2025, a key step towards unlocking external funding sources and beginning construction in the second half of 2025.
This new hub will be a vital resource for our diverse community, providing fit-for-purpose, sustainable buildings designed to meet everyone's needs. It will allow Cumnock Juniors Community Enterprise (CJCE) to expand its crucial work, offering even more opportunities and support.
We Need Your Help - Cumnock needs you!
To obtain the building warrant and secure major funding, we have an ambitious fundraising goal of £40,000 by the end of June 2025. These funds will cover essential assessments required for the building warrant.
Member groups are actively fundraising, and we're seeking sponsors, but every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.

Cumnock's population is expected to shrink, with more older residents and fewer younger people. CJCE will need to change its programs to better meet the needs of this aging community.
Cumnock faces some challenges, including higher-than-average crime rates, limited internet access in some areas, and a higher proportion of families experiencing child poverty and relying on welfare support. CJCE's community engagement and support initiatives play a vital role in addressing these issues.
People are increasingly looking for places that support health and well-being, offer a variety of uses, are welcoming to everyone, integrate technology, are environmentally friendly, and put community first. CJCE's development plans take these trends into account to meet the needs of our community, now and in the future
Feedback from the community and our own research highlight the need for modern, accessible, and inclusive community facilities. We're recommending upgrades to sports facilities, more inclusive programs, and enhanced opportunities for community engagement and development.
The new facility will feature modern, flexible spaces for sports and community activities. It will include spacious changing rooms, accessible restrooms, a large multi-purpose room, and a well-equipped kitchen.
CJCE already offers a great variety of community activities and sports coaching. Our new facility will allow us to expand these offerings, providing even more choices for everyone and making the most of our new space.
